In this first softback version of Prophecy Past and Present, which was over the next few years to have many reprints in other countries, Dr Clifford Hill provides an invaluable overview of prophecy using the Bible as his standard - from the days of the Old Testament prophets to the practice of prophecy in modem-day Pentecostalism and in the charismatic renewal.
As the third millennium approaches amid ever-increasing international turmoil, the world seeks desperately for any prophetic signs that will help people cope with an uncertain future. Christians in particular are asking what biblical prophecy has to say about modern events - and even about the end of the world. Some increasingly call upon prophetic gifts to discern God's will in personal or Church matters. What are Christians to make of these and other uses of prophecy?
Background History
Dr Hill had written many books on race relations and inner-city mission, before national and international ministry opened up following writing Towards the Dawn and The Day Comes and starting the magazine Prophecy Today and meeting with others on Mount Carmel in 1986. He recognised that there was a real need for producing an in-depth study of Prophecy which rapidly grew to being regarded as a textbook worldwide.
