Dear Friends
This Autumn newsletter brings you greetings from C&M Ministries and an update on our plans for the coming months.
The past few months have been very busy despite the summer break.

New Publications

We are thrilled to announce that Monica and Cliff’s book ‘Seeing the Hand of God’ will be published in October. Monica sent this book to the publishers just three days before she died and we are very grateful to Wilberforce Publications for all the work they have done to prepare it for publication. It is a book of short stories about Cliff and Monica’s worldwide ministry and the amazing things that they have seen God doing in their long ministry together.
Writing the Foreword to “Seeing the Hand of God” Andrea Williams says:
‘I can’t imagine a world where Clifford or Monica is without the other. And so it was with enormous sadness that I heard of Monica’s passing on Christmas Eve 2024. Of course, she had been working at her computer right up until that moment.
Monica was brilliant and formidable. She was also kind and wonderfully complementary to her beloved Clifford. To work with them, to observe them, was truly to witness “two become one”. This book is all about just that—their “two into one”—lives utterly surrendered to one another in marriage, and in service to their Lord and King, Jesus.’
Our publishers, Wilberforce Publications, will host an online launch event for ‘Seeing the Hand of God’ at 6pm on Wednesday 8th October 2025 where they will interview Clifford about some of the experiences mentioned in the book. If you would like to join us online for this launch event please let us know by contacting us and we will send you full details and a link to join shortly before the day. Full purchase details will be added to the resources/books section of our website as soon as they are available.
News of other books
Cliff has now completed the first draft of the book he started at Easter about the 20th century charismatic movement. It has now been sent to proof readers for checking before publishing. Entitled ‘The Great Awakening’, it tracks the development of the charismatic movement from its early days in the 1950s with the growth of the house church meetings through to the Toronto Blessing in the mid-1990s, focusing particularly on the work of John Wimber and the Kansas City prophets and their relationship with British church leaders. The book looks at what can be learnt from the past and hope for the future. We will give further details of this publication in our next newsletter.
Cliff is already working on another book – one that he has been contemplating writing for many years. He now feels prompted to start writing. Entitled ‘Why seek the Living Among the Dead?’ this book looks at the early church with its emphasis upon the resurrection and new life in Christ and the central concept of the community of believers as the body of Christ under the headship of Jesus. The book seeks to recover this concept in the church today
Archive News
As you know, one of the main heritage aims of the ministry is to collate and catalogue the archival material relating to the 70 years of Monica and Cliff’s national and international ministry. We aim to make this material available digitally where possible, but we are also seeking to ensure that the original material is eventually preserved in an archival library where it can be accessed by future generations.
We have been greatly encouraged in our initial discussions with an archival group who are establishing an Evangelical Archive of Christianity in Britain and Ireland in partnership with Manchester University. This group have expressed interest in our archives, keeping all our records and documents together as a complete collection. This will include the race relations ministry of the 1950s and ‘60s, the inner-city ministry of the 1970s and the Parliamentary work and international ministry of the 1980s through to 2020. We are truly delighted that our ministry records will be held and made available to the public by a national museum. They are holding an information evening in Manchester on 8th October, which unfortunately we cannot attend as it clashes with our book launch event. However, we have sent them an outline of our archives for inclusion in their discussions and will continue to monitor their progress. We hope to be able to give you more news on this project in our next newsletter.
Monica’s Legacy Fund update
As you know, the trustees decided to use the money donated in memory of Monica to digitalise much of her teaching material and make it available as a resource to future generations on our website. This work is progressing well and we hope to be able to make this material available in the resources section of our website in the New Year.
Our new team member, Ben Robinson, has almost finished digitalising the ‘Natural Church Development’ course notes and OHPs that Monica used in the late 1990s, and he is also doing the same with her ‘Prophecy and The Prophets’ teaching material. He has been somewhat delayed due to technical issues with the ministry's scanning machine, but he hopes that those will be resolved soon. Ben and his wife, Frances, welcomed their first child, Esther, at the end of July so he has also been taking some paternity leave over the summer.
As we mentioned in our last newsletter, many of you may remember Ben and Frances, who have worked for Issachar and Prophecy Today in the past and we are sure you will join us in sending them congratulations as well as holding them in your prayers as they start this new adventure as a family.
Books needing a new home!

C&M no longer sells books, but we still have many copies of Clifford and Monica’s books in storage which we would love to donate to an online book seller. If you know anyone who could help ensure these books are made available for purchase in the future we would love to hear from you. Perhaps you have links with your local book seller, or you would like to sell them online yourself?! We would not make any charge for these books but we would obviously need to cover transportation costs – unless you know of someone with a van who could collect them! Jenny would be happy to send you more details plus a full list of books available, please contact her.
And finally …
Kathryn has been a much-valued member of our team for many years, however, due to other commitments she is now handing over responsibility for sending out our newsletter to her husband, Martin. Martin has already designed our website and provided invaluable technical help in the past, and we are very grateful for his willingness to expand his support of the ministry in this way.
We would also like to take this opportunity of thanking Tony Whelan for all the work he has done for us in the past as he has now decided it is time to ‘retire’. Tony has provided many years of support to the ministry, ensuring books and other resources are made available on our website, as well as designing book covers and other resources for the ministry. Thank you, Tony, for all you have done and we pray God’s blessing on you in the future.
Please continue to hold the ministry in your prayers. We will be in touch with you again in December with more news of our on-going work and future plans.
Clifford, Jenny, Alison, Stephen, Angela, Neil, and the rest of the team.
