Dear friends

This Summer Newsletter brings you greetings from C&M Ministries and an update on the future plans for the ministry.

We hope that you will be encouraged to see the progress that we’ve been able to make to ensure the records of Clifford and Monica’s long ministry are made available to future generations.

Publications and Books Update

The Great Awakening

Initial proofing of Cliff’s book tracing the development of the charismatic movement from its early days in the 1950s through to the Toronto Blessing in the mid-1990s has now been completed and we are currently investigating various means of publishing it, including the possibility of publishing the book digitally, with an additional limited print run. We believe that this book contains an important message for the church today, looking at what can be learnt from the past and hope for the future, so we are keen to establish the best way to reach those currently in church leadership.

Why seek the Living Among the Dead?

Cliff has been spending the last few months concentrating on completing his next book, ‘Why Seek the Living Among the Dead’. This book contains a message that Cliff has felt God urging him to write for many years. It is essentially a theological analysis of the early church, looking at its emphasis upon the resurrection and new life in Christ and the central concept of the community of believers as the body of Christ under the headship of Jesus. Cliff is currently working on the final chapters which will focus on the challenge facing the present-day church and hopes to complete the whole book very shortly.

The Moggerhanger Chronicles Volume 2

The Moggerhanger Chronicles Volume 1 book cover

In December 2024, the first part of the Moggerhanger Chronicles was published. This volume tracked the story from the early vision until 2004 when that vision seemed to be on the verge of fulfilment with the completion of the restoration project. It related the wonderful story of God’s blessing at the beginning of the venture; the miracle of Moggerhanger Park’s purchase, its restoration, and how it became a successful community-led Christian centre.

The second part of these Chronicles has been much harder to write. Although there were some of the l

ovely stories of success at Moggerhanger from 2004-2007, there were also some less encouraging events which eventually led to the demise of the project. Prior to Monica’s death, she and Clifford had already chronicled not only how God was blessing their wider ministry at the time but also relating many of the later events that led to their eventual departure in 2013.

In The Moggerhanger Chronicles Volume 2, Jenny, who led much of the work at Moggerhanger with her husband Simon, reflects on what went wrong, recording many of the ‘behind-the-scenes’ events that remained hidden while Moggerhanger Park appeared to be at its most successful. These records will eventually be combined with Clifford and Monica’s accounts to complete the Chronicles. We believe there are important lessons to learn about how success can contain the seeds of failure unless it is guided spiritually by the Holy Spirit. It is all too easy for human enthusiasm or personal ambition to overwhelm a godly project and divert it from its foundation as a community of believers under the headship of Jesus. This happened at Moggerhanger, and it is the story we hope to share in this book.

Preserving the Ministry Archives

The John Rylands Library
The John Rylands Library

C&M Archive Papers

Positive discussions have been ongoing with the John Rylands Library in Manchester, and we are greatly encouraged that the chief curator of the library is taking a personal interest in establishing the Archive of Evangelical Christianity as part of their collection. They are now starting to receive donations and have confirmed that they want to include our archives in this collection.

During the winter, Jenny completed the main sorting of all our paper archives and has compiled a complete catalogue of the C&M archives.

We are now monitoring the general progress of the project and hope to be able to confirm more details shortly.

New Resources available on the C&M Website

We are continuing to add more material to our website. In our last newsletter we reported that Ben had competed the digitalisation of the ‘Natural Church Development’ material which can be viewed by following this link:

British Church Growth Association (BCGA)

Recently, we have expanded the ‘Teaching and Biblical Research’ section of the website, adding some of Monica and Clifford’s teaching material about prophecy and spiritual gifts. This section can be viewed by following this link:

Biblical Research

In the 1990s Clifford and Monica ran a number of in-person courses on Prophecy and the Prophets, as well as offering a correspondence course on 'The Prophets of the Old Testament'. This course is now available for free download by following this link:

Webinars, Courses and Audio Visual Resources

Additionally, Clifford and Monica produced many teaching papers which were sent out with the Issachar Ministries mailings in the past. These papers include series on the Gifts of the Spirit, the Fruits of the Spirit, the Beatitudes and Community Values. These have all been added to the resources section of our website and can be viewed or downloaded by following this link:

Further Website Developments

Ben’s next project is to digitalise the remaining printed editions of Prophecy Today magazine. The first 10 years of the magazine (from 1985 to 1996) are already available for free download from the resources section of our website. In the next few months, we are aiming to make all past copies of Prophecy Today freely available for download by following this link:

Prophecy Today

Clifford and Monica ran many other courses and webinars during their ministry. Some, such as the ‘Living in Babylon’ webinar series, are already digitalised, others such as the Moggerhanger Teaching Days, still need digitalising from the original tape format. Eventually we hope that most of these courses will be available for free download on our website.

Do share our website address www.candmministries.org.uk with anyone you think would find it interesting and useful.

Memories

Angela is continuing to add contributions to the Memories and Testimonies section of the C&M website. Recently we have received some interesting memories from people who were involved in the early stages of Prophecy Today and Moggerhanger and you can read them by following this link:

Testimonies

We would love to hear from you if you have memories of times spent with Clifford and Monica that could be added to our collection. If you would like to add your contribution please contact via the contact form

And finally …

We pray God’s blessing for you all. Please continue to hold the ministry in your prayers. We will be in touch with you again in the Autumn with more news of our ongoing work and future plans.
