Book cover for Living Victoriously in Babylon

This Workbook is for individual or group study. It is based upon the study book 'Living in Babylon' which traces the exciting transformation of the people who sat weeping beside the rivers of Babylon. Jeremiah's letter (chapter 29), telling the exiles from Jerusalem to settle down and build houses in Babylon because God had good plans for them, was amazingly fulfilled.

The Workbook presents the story of life in Babylon for group discussion, It shows how the people of Israel discovered a new identity as the covenant people of God, how they developed faith communities in their settlements and how their faith in God grew in a hostile environment.

It offers studies for three different courses – a) the changes that took place in the Jewish community in the 6th century BC, b) their effects on the birth and growth of the 1st century AD New Testament Church and c) its Relevance for Christians Today.

Background History

Having produced and published the study book ‘Living in Babylon’ on the recent discoveries of clay tablets in excavations in ancient Babylon we were receiving many requests for help in sharing the relevance that these discoveries have had, or could have for our increased understanding.  This produced this comprehensive workbook and during the pandemic enabled us to hold webinars on line using a community portal and modern technology.
