Book cover for Today with Ezekiel Vol 2

This is the second volume of a commentary on Ezekiel chapters 22 – 48.

In the first volume, the exiled Jewish people were weeping by the rivers Babylon.

The second volume is full of good news. The land was desolate and the Temple under threat, but Ezekiel recognised that the leadership of Israel, including the monarchy and the temple priesthood, all had to go so that God could do a new thing. He would give a new heart and a new spirit to his people.

Background History

In 2023, Cliff and Monica were stimulated to study more deeply the Old Testament writings and life-story of this 6thCentury BC prophet reflecting his years in Exile in Babylon.  They felt this could be a valuable follow-up in the ‘Today with Isaiah’ and ‘Today with Jeremiah’ series of daily Bible readings.

Ten years earlier Cliff and Monica had led tours of Jerusalem at a time when clay tablets reflecting life in 6th Century BC Babylon had just been discovered in recent excavations which had added to our knowledge of how the Jewish faith survived during those shattering years and its relevance for our understanding and behaviour today  During 2016 and 2017 they had written a study Guide ‘Living in Babylon’ accompanied by an interactive Workbook for small groups entitled ‘Living Victoriously in Babylon’.
