When the date of the 2024 Election was announced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as 4 July, it bought back memories of action taken some nineteen years earlier in 2005. The 2005 election was at a time when Tony Blair had already served two terms as Prime Minister for Labour, and the nation was also looking towards a probable change – if not of party certainly that of leadership.

In 2005, our involvement in national ministry was at its height with the formation of both Transform UK and the Christian Workplace Forum, both based on Clapham Sect principles from another great time of change in the late 18 and early 19th century prior to the Union with Scotland when Tories and Whigs were the two main political parties of the time.

Transform UK held ‘hustings’ all over the country when the 2005 election was announced. These were led by Andrea Williams who is now carrying this work forward at this election with Christian Concern.

The Christian Workplace Forum was in its infancy in 2005, reaching out to rally Christians in their professional groups and places of work. This work was headed up by Ros Turner. Now Ros Loaker and CEO of Transform Work, CWF’s new name, Ros has sent out  'Seven ethical calls to UK election candidates'  in relation to the current election.
